How did Miele keep all of the same features and power while sliming down the canister design? There are three key design differences between S6 and S5.
- First, S6 has a smaller internal dust compartment. Meaning it uses a smaller bag than S5, utilizing a 4-liter disposable dust bag compared to the 5-liter bag found in S5.
- Second, S6 stores its accessory tools (dusting brush, crevice tool, upholstery tool) on the vacuum hose rather than under a tool lid inside the canister.
- Third, when using an electric power head, S6 has a short cord attached to the hose at the canister end, which plugs into a small socket located near the canister carrying handle.
These three design changes allow the S6 to be more compact and lighter-weight, without sacrificing power, versatility or cleaning ability.
Lighter-weight and more compact styling makes S6 the most maneuverable and easy to manage canister design ever. All the canister packages (Quartz, Onyx, Topaz, Red Velvet, Jasper, & HomeCare) feature the same canister design and suction controls. The only variance between these packages is precisely what tools come packaged with the canister as well as what filtration is packaged standard from factory. Most of these packages are available online, but some of them are only found in store.
